Living with mental health challenges can cause mild to severe impairments in day to day functioning. A mental health challenge can include depression, anxiety, psychosis, addiction, trauma, among others. In the United States alone, 1 in 5 adults experience the detrimental effects of mental illness. Only 41% of those with a mental illness will seek treatment due to stigma and lack of accessibility to services.
We currently have an overwhelming amount of research and evidence that supports the efficacy of yoga as a tool to alleviate the symptoms of mental illness, as well as supporting healthier lifestyles, leading to an optimal quality of life.
